loving these rustic barrels

These have been selling like “hot cakes” for us.  They are great reclaimed wood planters.
They  are wonderful orchid planters and great trash cans.  You can buy them on Taigan
or check out our  website.

string gardens

These are the whimsical project of Fedor, a Dutch fellow about whom nobody seems to know much, has blossomed into a series of string gardens: planted hanging gardens that are a variation of kokedma, a japanese botanical style.

The illusive Fedor’s objective, is to have the plants “find their balance” as they grow and become heavier. “As the centrepoint of the plant keeps changing,” says the string gardener, “the plants grow in a way that makes them look more powerfull and like they are floating in mid air.” The string gardens are meant to be viewed at eye level. Some of the plants are covered with moss and placed in a bowl, others are woven into horizontal nets wich are coverd with moss, clover and grass.  Some float in their environments alone, some are grouped with others creating a sort of horticultural symphony. They are undeniably gorgeous in their zen quality.

Aren’t they awesome!

a little green to the rescue

A few weeks ago we did a post from California with some beautiful potted plants, ooohing
and awing at the great vegitation they have out there.  Well here is our version. We gathered
a couple of mounds of club moss (not sure that is it’s proper name) from Ivy Nursery for
$6.99/each and plopped them in some great antique silver tea tins, chafing dishes, etc
and got an instant pop of life and color into the store.  Nothing is prettier than nature!
